As a Clinical Psychologist known to my clients as “Dr. Silvi,” I blend the latest neuroscience, evidence-based methods, empathy, and culturally informed practices to support individuals of all ages on their path to resilience and well-being. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and tailor each treatment plan with insights from neuroscience and developmental psychology. Fluent in Spanish, I offer bilingual, culturally sensitive therapy for clients from diverse backgrounds.
In addition to my clinical work, I am a published author, community consultant, and lecturer at the University of Miami’s Department of Psychology. My publications, such as How to Handle Stress for Middle School Success, provide practical, evidence-based resources for managing stress. I also consult with schools and organizations, offering training that builds resilience and supports mental health across communities.
At the University of Miami, I teach courses on diversity in psychology, with a focus on multicultural competence and accessibility in mental health care. My goal is to equip future psychologists to serve clients from all backgrounds with cultural sensitivity and inclusivity, fostering a more compassionate and accessible field.
Educational & Professional Background
My journey began with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, clinical psychology, and business administration, followed by a master’s in marriage and family therapy from the University of Miami and a doctorate in clinical psychology from Nova Southeastern University. My clinical training includes pre-doctoral work at Stanford University's Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and the Community Clinic at Children’s Health Council (CHC) in Palo Alto, CA, and a postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Behavior Management Clinic in Baltimore, MD.
After relocating to Bethesda, MD, I joined a group practice where I spent over a decade refining my expertise in CBT, particularly in treating anxiety and OCD. This experience inspired me to establish my own private practice, Stress-Free CBT.
A Virtual Practice Across PSYPACT States
Based in Washington, DC, my fully virtual practice allows clients across 38 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico to access compassionate, convenient care through PSYPACT. Publications & Community Involvement
In 2023, I published How to Handle Stress for Middle School Success, the first in a series of science-backed guides for managing stress. I also collaborated on Abuela's Letter by Debbie Zapata, a children’s book celebrating family and cultural heritage, available here.
I am also deeply involved in community mental health, consulting and presenting for schools and organizations on topics like stress management and well-being. Through my writing, consulting, and teaching, I am dedicated to fostering mental wellness across all ages.
With compassion, creativity, and genuine care, I am committed to supporting you and your family on your journey toward greater mental well-being. I look forward to working together!
